Joyride is Roxette's third album and the title is taken from an interview with Paul McCartney where he says: "writing songs with John Lennon was a long joyride".
The album was recorded at EMI Studios in Stockholm and at Tits & Ass Studios in Halmstad between January and November 1990 and it is the biggest selling Roxette album so far.
On the spine of the album the phrase Don't Bore Us - Get To The Chorus is printed as a sort of subtitle. This slogan is borrowed from the Brill Building in New York City where song writers Leiber & Stoller used to work.
The vinyl edition of Joyride was originally planned to be released with a gatefold sleeve but the idea was cancelled in the last minute because Per Gessle did not like the picture on the inside of the planned sleeve. However, 10 copies of the album with a gatefold sleeve do exist.
The first edition of the Swedish LP came with a hard inner sleeve and 910116 engraved on the run-off groove. The second edition came with a soft inner sleeve and 910214 engraved on the run-off groove.
The CD and cassette of Joyride includes three bonus tracks of which one, Soul Deep, is a partly re-recorded version of the song with new guitars, bass and a new mix compared to the version included on their debut album Pearls Of Passion.
In some of the European countries the first edition of the CD had the title of the song Knockin' On Every Door misprinted as Knocking' On Every Door on the actual disc.
